Santiago Mayor Abel Martinez chose experienced Francisco Javier García to be his presidential campaign manager for the 2024 general election. While his candidacy needs to be confirmed by the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) in the party primary or alternate activity in October 2023, Martínez is getting a head start in promoting his aspirations. The political party campaigns officially should not start until July 2023.
Javier García is a long time former Minister of Tourism (2008-2020) who was also campaign manager for the successful presidential campaigns of former President’s Leonel Fernandez (1996, 2004, 2008) and Danilo Medina (2012 and 2016) of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).
