Dominican culinary art on show in London

The Dominican Gastronomic Academy, headed by Luis Ros, put on a culinary show in London, United Kingdom, during the celebration of the 11th Dominican Week. The UK and Dominican Republic embassies, and the Chamber of Commerce of the United Kingdom in the Dominican Republic sponsored the activity.

The mere description of the six dishes is enough to stimulate anyone’s appetite. The sample started with the famous dish from Samana, fish with coconut served with rice and avocado. Then came a shrimp dish, á l Sanchez Bay, with tostones and flavored with cilantro.

The Cibao was recognized with the oregano-infused goat with a sauce using Brugal 1888 rum together with bitter oranges and spices. Fried pork with casaba bread was next.

The deserts were arroz con leche, the rice pudding dish prepared with Dominican vanilla, mangos, brown sugar and merengue. Banana cake with a mousse of Dominican cacao was also served.

It goes without saying that these mouth-watering dishes were a great success, and a tribute to Dominican cuisine.
