The Ministry of Labor announced 12 holidays for 2023. Of the holidays, five fall on Thursday, Friday or Monday, creating long weekends for those who can take the extra days off.
The official holidays in 2023 are:
Sunday, 1 January. New Year’s Day.
Friday, 6 January, Three Kings Day. This will be moved to be celebrated on Monday, 9 January creating a long weekend.
Saturday, 21 January, the day of Our Lady of Altagracia.
Thursday, 26 January 26, the birthday of nation founding father Juan Pablo Duarte is moved to Monday, 30 January, creating a long weekend.
Monday, 27 February 27, National Independence Day.
Friday, 7 April, Good Friday, a religious hoilday.
Monday, 1 May, Labor Day.
Thursday, 8 June, Corpus Christi religious holiday. This creates a long weekend.
Wednesday, 16 August, Restoration of the Republic Day.
Sunday, 24 September, Our Lady of Mercy Day religious holiday.
Monday, 6 November, Constitution Day, creating a long weekend.
Monday, 25 December Christmas Day, also creates a long weekend.
