The dwelling-by-dwelling data collection for the 2022 census has concluded. The National Statistics Office (ONE) has completed the 10th National Population and Housing Census in 28 provinces. ONE will complete the pending census work in Greater Santo Domingo, Santiago and La Altagracia with its personnel.
In a press release, the institution thanked the Dominican people for doing their duty by providing the required information.
“From day one, the people showed empathy and hospitality to the census takers, who were committed to the process that represents the largest and most important statistical operation carried out in the Dominican Republic, which concludes by reaching the expected level of coverage in 28 provinces of the country,” said ONE in the press release.
After 20 days of work with thousands of census takers in the streets, ONE informed that starting on 1 December 2022, special operations will be carried out in collective housing, such as jails, asylums, barracks, centers and shelters.
Likewise, ONE said data-collecting efforts would continue in the National District and the
municipalities Santo Domingo East, Santo Domingo West, Veron (La Altagracia) and Santiago de los Caballeros, with the inhouse staff of the ONE trained for this purpose.
ONE encouraged the citizens of these three provinces and the National District to participate in the extended data collection efforts. It provides the telephone number 809-682-2717, dialing option 1, for neighborhood associations, condominium administrators and private citizens to coordinate the visit for census data collection.
