
The Ministry of Tourism reports air arrivals of 6,397,444 visitors by air, and another 1,085,606 cruise ship passengers, setting a new record in arrivals for the first 11 months of the year. Tourist arrivals from January to November were 7,483,050.
Tourism Minister David Collado reported 571,354 tourist arrivals by air in November 2022, a new record for the month. The Ministry estimates the travelers generated more than US$532 million in foreign exchange.
In November 571,354 tourists arrived by air, 109,489 tourists more than those who arrived in the pre-pandemic November 2019, a 24% increase. Of the total 571,354, 476,647 were foreigners and 94,707 non-resident Dominicans.
Collado also highlighted the growth in cruise passengers, with 195,270 visiting in November 2022, compared to 111,128 in the same month of 2019. The cruise ship arrival increase is due to the opening of the Taino Cruise Terminal in Puerto Plata.
From January to November 2022, 1,085,606 cruise passengers arrived in the country, compared to the 948,118 who visited in the same period of 2019.
