
The Central Bank reports Dominicans abroad sent US$787 million home in November 2022. The remittances total for the eleven months of 2022 is now over US$8.91 billion.
The year’s remittance total is now 27% more than for the 11 months of the pre-pandemic 2019, reports the Central Bank. The total is below the total for 2021, a record year.
The Central Bank says that the flow of remittances is stable around US$800 million a month.
84% of the remittances are sent by Dominicans living in the United States. This is followed by 6.5% by those living in Spain. Dominicans living in Haiti send 1.2% and those in Italy 0.8%, the Central Bank reports.
