Attorney General German Brito: Less media, more use of legal recourses

Attorney General Miriam German Brito sent a letter to leading prosecutors at the Attorney General Office calling for more actions to prosecute crime. She criticism the tendency of leading prosecutors to dispute a corruption case through the media. “Our work should concentrate in the courts, not taking the litigation to the media,” said the Attorney General who is a former Supreme Court of Justice president of the Penal Chamber.

Both Wilson Camacho, head of the Specialized Prosecution against Administrative Corruption (Pepca) and Yeni Berenice Reynoso, Adjunct Prosecutor have criticized recent judge decisions that favor with house arrest lead persons accused in high-profile corruption cases.

German Brito said that even when there are decisions that should be questioned, there are resources in place to deal with these situations in a correct way through the system apart from addressing these with comments to the press.
