
The Civil Aviation Board (JAC) says that a new air arrival and departure record has been set for the Dominican Republic. In 2022, 15,480,688 passengers were transported to and from the country’s eight international airports. This is 4,726,932 more travelers than in 2021.
The movement of passengers in December 2022 was 1,451,456 users, of which 794,060 were on arrival flights and 657,396 on departure flights for an increase of 121,845 passengers compared to December 2021. There were 11,836 commercial flights in December 2022, of which 5,917 were arrivals and 5,919 departures.
For the fifth consecutive month, a record number of flights is recorded. Flights operated in December 2022 set a new record. Flights in December surpass the number of flights made in July 2019, a year in which 11,187 commercial flights were made and which was the previous record, explained José E. Marte Piantini, president of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC).
Punta Cana International Airport was the most busy airport with 767,243 passengers in December 2022, for 53% of the total number of travelers in all terminals. Las Americas Airport followed with 30% of the total (435,591 passengers) and Cibao Airport was third with 10% of the total or 151,449 passengers in December 2022.
