
Policeman Jose Miguel Beato was found guilty of killing two men but was sent to serve the sentence of 20 years in the Special Operations jail of the Police. The double crime occurred on 29 December 2021 when he killed Jose Guillermo de Jesus Perez and Randy Marte Abreu. Beato was accused of violating articles 295 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code by committing voluntary homicide against the victims.
The double crime occurred on the morning of December 29, 2021, when Beato showed up at the loan agency, in the Los Rios sector of the National District, where he was required because he had several delays in the payment of a credit. A heated discussion with the victims evolved when the policeman was asked to hand over the vehicle keys he had acquired with the money owed.
In response to this request, Beato took his gun and chased Marte Abreu, whom he shot twice in the back while he was running toward the street trying to protect himself from the aggression.
Later, the perpetrator returned to the money lending agency office, where he wounded De Jesus Perez in the left side. De Jesus who would later die of his wounds.
By court decision, Beato will serve his sentence in the Special Operations jail of the National Police.
Judges Keila Pérez Santana, Elías Santini and Arisleida Méndez Batista ordered that Beatto serve his sentence at the Special Operations jail of the National Police.
