An interesting report came out of the Ministry of Industry & Commerce (MICM) last week. The report highlights that only 23% of the workers in the nation’s system of industrial manufacturing are women, around 32,000 in number, even when this is a 12% increase over 2015. However, the same report says that the average salaries woman are making are over RD$5,000 more then what the men earn.
According to the article in the Listin Diario on the topic, the average salary for women is RD$38,288, and for men it is RD$33,164. Some 70% of the women are employed in large industries, 19% are employed in small businesses and 7% are in micro-companies.
