
Vice President Raquel Peña was in Constanza for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new campus of the Catholic Technological University of the Cibao branch in the mountain town of Constanza, central La Vega province. The university has been offering classes in Constanza since 1999.
The Vice President is a former deputy rector and administrative director of the PUCMM, the largest private university in the country. She spoke at the event about how these times require more and better education.
Constanza is one of the most important food-producing areas of the entire Dominican Republic since it is the primary source of onions, garlic, and most all vegetables and fruits.
The Vice President praised the academic offerings of the new Ucateci campus: Agricultural Science, Environmental Studies, Water Management, and Agritourism.
There is a need for skilled technicians for the farm and environmental sectors. The graduates will find jobs in the province and nationwide.
