The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party announced it will select its presidential candidate using a closed voting list of organization members. In the past, the party has chosen the presidential candidate allowing all eligible voters to have a say.
President Luis Abinader is expected to be appointed the PRM candidate to the May 2024 presidential election. The Constitution allows him to run for a second term.
