The PLD legislators say the government is giving a political stance to corruption cases filed in Dominican courts. The cases affect close family members of former President, and several of his cabinet ministers and high-ranking directors.
The blocks of senators and deputies of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) left the Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday, 28 March 2023, this time protesting that police agents prevented the party militants from marching on Sunday, 27 March 2023 from the Palace of Justice of Ciudad Nueva where three former Danilo Medina administration ministers are being held in prison awaiting pre-trial measures. In Operation Squid, prosecutors are presenting evidence regarding irregular government payments for RD$19 billion.
