The Dominican Republic’s U-20 men’s national team won a slot to play in Group D of the U-20 World Cup, which will be played in Argentina from 20 May to 11 June 2023.
The draw was made on 21 April 2023 in Zurich, Switzerland, home of FIFA. The DR is the underdog, playing against the veteran teams from Italy, Brazil and Nigeria.
It is the first time that Dominican Republic has participated in a World Cup in any category, and at the same time, this same group had already won the right to compete for the Dominican Republic in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Dominican Republic is scheduled to play a series of friendly matches in Europe, before competing in the World Cup.
Soccer is improving by leaps and bounds in the Dominican Republic.
