Minister of Environment Miguel Ceara Hatton announced the temporary naming of corporate lawyer Ana Patricia Ossers Geronimo as legal director at the Ministry of Environment. She replaces Sheiner Adames Torres. The change is made at a time when several government decisions, at times affecting protected areas, have been questioned by environmentalists and the press.
Ossers Geronimo previously served as director of the Environmental Regulations Department at the Ministry. Previously, she was advisor to Minister Ceara Hatton when he served as Minister of Economy at the Ministry of Economy at the start of the Abinader administration.
In the press release sent on the new appointment, the Ministry of Environment says that Ossers Geronimo was part of the membership of the National Association of Youth Entrepreneurs (ANJE), and member of the review committee for legislative initiatives of the Dominican Republic Association of Industries (AIRD).
