Former Cestur head gets sent to domiciliary arrest

The Court of Appeals of the National District changed the preventive imprisonment order against former director of the Specialized Tourism Security Corps (Cestur), Juan Carlos Torres Robiou for one of house arrest, electronic shackles and an economic guarantee. Torres Robiou is accused in the alleged military corruption network known as Operation Coral 5G.

The information was confirmed by prosecutor Miguel Collado, who clarified that the variation of the coercive measures occurred during the hearing on Wednesday, 3 May 2023. Torres Robiou has already completed more than 18 months in preventive detention at Najayo Jail in San Cristóbal.
