The Chamber of Deputies has chosen PRSC deputy Rogelio Genao to direct the committee that is investigating the Chamber of Accounts’ performance. Genao also directed the committee that assessed and recommended the candidates to be elected to the positions. The Chamber of Accounts is affected by an internal impasse.
The Chamber of Accounts president Janel Ramirez and member Mario Fernandez have clashed with three women elected to the position, including one with very close ties to former Minister of Hacienda Donald Guerrero. Guerrero is accused of major corruption in the past Danilo Medina government. The Chamber of Accounts is in charge of carrying out audits to state entities.
