Santo Domingo Metro workers for months have been protesting that the mass transport authorities at the Office for the Reordering of Transport (Oficina para el Reordenamiento del Transport, OPRET), have been violating the 2022 agreement to improve their salaries and benefits. The around 150 operators had called for a Tuesday, 20 June 2023 strike, but reports are that the stoppage did not make a difference. The Metro Office reported the operator strike did not affect the service because extras took over.
