The Dominican Republic’s women’s senior volleyball team defeated Costa Rica 3-0 in the start of the women’s volleyball tournament in the San Salvador 24th Central American and Caribbean Games. The scores were 25-7, 25-11 and 25-17.
On the same day, Puerto Rico defeated Mexico 3-1 (25-15, 25-20, 21-25, 25-23).
On Wednesday, 5 July, the DR matches Mexico. On Thursday, 6 July, the DR plays its arch-rival, Puerto Rico. The semifinals are on Friday, 7 July and the finals on Saturday, 8 July.
The Dominican Republic team is a strong contender to win the gold medal in the games.
