
Dominican runner Alexander Ogando clocked 19.99 to win the gold medal in the 200m Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, El Salvador.
Fiordaliza Cofil was third in the 200 m dash with 23.07.
During the 5 July athletics competitions, Juander Santos won bronze for the Dominican Republic in 400m hurdles clocking in at 49.61, his best time in the season. His brother Luguelin Santos had won silver for the Dominican Republic in the 200m in the 2012 London Olympics.
In heptathlon, José Paulino won bronze medal for the Dominican Republic. Paulino finished with a total of 7,762 points. It is the first time a Dominican wins a medal in decathlon in a high level regional competition.
Dominican track stars Marileidy Paulino, Fiordaliza Cofil and Lidio Andres Feliz are in the finals of the 400 meters set for Thursday at 7pm (Dominican time) at the track of the Magico Gonzalez Stadium, as reported in Noticias SIN. Marileidy Paulino qualified first in her heat with a time of 51.25 seconds, while Fiordaliza Cofil also clocked in third position with 51.47 seconds. In the men’s category, Lidio Andres Feliz, qualified second place with a time of 46.13 seconds.
