N Digital reports on a long list of ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) politicians that have registered their pre-candidacy for municipal and congressional positions in the 2024 elections. N Digital explains that the list includes current deputies and former officials under investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for their pre-candidacies for mayor, city councilors, deputies and senators.
While their involvement in crime is suspect, the registrations of these individuals is legitimate because the prosecution has yet to advance on their cases.
Several current deputies that are under investigation for drug trafficking, money laundering and administrative corruption have thus registered to be elected in the municipal and congressional election scheduled for February and May 2024.
Also applying for PRM candidacies are former government officials separated from government after accusations of multiple crimes and scandals.
The N Digital list:
Nelson Marmolejo Gil, deputy PRM-Santiago, linked to Operation Falcon (drug trafficking and money laundering) and investigated for the past year and 10 months on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering. He is under the jurisdiction of Supreme Court Judge Napoleon Estevez, given his privileged jurisdiction. He registered to run for reelection and said that now he does it with more support than before and intends to be the most voted legislator in the next elections.
Faustina Guerrero Cabrera, PRM deputy PRM-Hato Mayor. Also known as Grey Maldonado, this congresswoman is linked to Operation Falcon.
Hector Feliz Feliz, deputy of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD)-Pedernales. He is a current legislator linked to the Falcón network (drug trafficking and money laundering). The PRD reserved for him the candidacy for deputy and will again nominate him for the elections of May 2024. Pirrín, as is widely known, is under investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and under the jurisdiction of Judge Estévez, who serves as special instruction judge of the SCJ.
Rosa Amalia Pilarte, PRM-La Vega deputy, registered to run for a new term. The Public Ministry accuses her of mobilizing in the national financial system more than RD$2.55 billion pesos, product of money laundering activities, in a network integrated by other members of her family and directed by her husband, Jose Miguel Lopez Florencio (Miky Lopez). Pilarte is also under the jurisdiction of Napoleon Estevez, by the privilege of his investiture.
Jose Miguel Lopez, PRM-La Vega councilor. He is the son of Congresswoman Pilarte and Miky López and current councilor for the La Vega City Council and is registered for reelection. He is also linked to the Miky López network.
Sergio Moya, deputy PRM-National District, registered to run again for deputy. “Gory” Moya is linked to Operation Calamar, a corruption scheme involving past and current government officials in the expropriation of land and gambling mafias, for more than RD$19 billion. He is said to be one of the coordinators of the scheme of extortion of lottery banks created by the former Minister of Hacienda, Donald Guerrero.
José Luis Valera registered as a pre-candidate for the PRM-Santo Domingo. He was removed from his position as Dominican vice consul in Bacelona Spain without the reasons being made public. He is a former councilor for the Los Alcarrizos city council.
Kinsberly Taveras, the first choice for Minister of Youth for the Abinader administration, registered as a pre-candidate for deputy for Santo Domingo — Los Alcarrizos and Pedro Brand. She resigned in December 2020, six month after being appointed, following a scandal regarding the millions in assets she posted in her wealth statement.
