Inflation at record low since July 2020

The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) reports a relatively low interannual inflation of 4.0% for June 2023. The inflation is on target and is the lowest since July 2020. The variation of the Consumer Price Index was 0.22% in June 2023 compared to May.

The Central Bank reports that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) registered a monthly variation of 0.22% in June 2023. The Monetary Program had set inflation to be at the 4.0%±1.0% range.

The BCRD says inter-annual core inflation maintains a downward trend and is now at 5.33% as of June 2023, down 196 basis points compared to the maximum of 7.29% registered in May 2022.
