The Ministry of Foreign Relations announced the Single Consular Power of Attorney. This new instrument, in alliance with financial intermediation entities, seeks to simplify the legal and administrative procedures for the purchase by Dominicans living abroad of homes in the country, especially low-cost ones.
The document will be available at Dominican consulates abroad. Through its use, any Dominican abroad may authorize a third party in the Dominican Republic to represent them in buying a home.
The Single Consular Power resulted from actions taken by the inter-institutional technical table, made up of the Ministry of Foreign Relations (Mirex), the National Institute of Dominicans Abroad (Index), the Ministry of the Presidency and the National Happy Family Housing Plan, the Superintendency of Banks, the Real Estate Registry, Cadastral Agency, the College of Notaries, the Dominican Association of Banks (ABA), the Dominican League of Savings and Home Loan Associations (LIDAAPI), the Association of Savings and Credit Banks and Credit Corporations (ABANCORD).
