Sentenced criminals Jony Oscar Charles (Plumita), Johnny Alexander Castro and Enrique Valerio were on their way from La Victoria Jail in northern Santo Domingo to a court in San Pedro de Macoris on Tuesday, 29 August 2023. The minibus in which they were traveling was intercepted by a truck and a Ford Explorer, and two of the criminals, Jony Oscar Charles, Johnny Alexander Castro were taken. The occupants of the Ford Explorer fired at the minibus, injuring a policeman who was accompanying the convicted prisoners. The two escaped criminals have ties to drug-related operations.
Johnny Alexander Castro (Tutuma) would turn himself in to the authorities, after he was released by the perpetrators of the kidnapping or escape of the inmates. Tutuma was sentenced in the same four-murder crime as Plumita.
Plumita is a dangerous criminal now on the run. The authorities say they have intensified the search.
