
The Dominican Medical Association (CMD) says it will resume the tactic of suspending medical services to pressure the government and health plans to offer better conditions to the medics and the patients.
The Dominican Medical Association and its Specialized Medical Societies say physicians will suspend all elective services to patients nationwide next Monday, 4 September 2023. In addition, the CMD announced a 48-hour national strike on 7 and 8 September, affecting public and private hospitals. Physicians will only attend to emergencies and critical patients.
During the press conference, Dr. Senén Caba, president of the CMD, said that the Social Security Council and the government had had ample time to make viable proposals.
