New ambassadors for the Holy See, Honduras, Israel and Nicaragua

His Holiness Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Piergiorgio Bertoldi / MIREX

President Luis Abinader, accompanied by Vice President Raquel Peña and Foreign Relations Minister Roberto Álvarez, received the credentials of the new representatives of the Holy See, Honduras, Israel and Nicaragua.

The first to present his credentials was His Holiness’s new Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Piergiorgio Bertoldi. Bertoldi has served previously in Mozambique, Uganda, Congo, Colombia, the former Yugoslavia, Romania, Iran and Brazil.

The new ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua, Harold de Jesús Delgado is a lawyer and professor who, before being appointed, served as counselor minister with consular functions at the embassy of his country in the Dominican Republic.

The third to present credentials was Ambassador Sonia Leticia Cruz Lozano, who represents Honduras. Cruz is a lawyer by profession who, among other positions, has held high ranking positions in Education and Interior and Justice, as well as director of the Institute for Access to Public Information.

Raslan Abu Rukun is Israel’s new representative in the country, a diplomat who has served as Israel’s consul general in the US Mid-Atlantic region, which serves Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Kentucky, West Virginia and southern New Jersey.
