Political parties have until 29 October 2023 to declare the candidates for the presidential, congressional and municipal elections in 2024, according to Political Parties Law 33-18.
The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) needs to post the official winning candidates of the primary held on Sunday, 2 October 2023 to choose its candidates for President, and the city governments of Santo Domingo East and Santo Domingo West. All other PRM candidates are to be elected by polls or handpicked by the organization’s leaders during assemblies.
The municipal election will be on 18 February 2024 and the congressional and presidential election on 19 May 2024.
