The Ministry of Sports is making available cash awards for RD$350,000 for athletes winning gold medals in the Santiago 2023 Pan Am Games. The Ministry of Sports is allotting RD$200,000 for silver medalists and RD$150,000 for bronze medalists.
In the case of team sports, the award for winning gold is RD$250,000 per athlete. The government will be paying awards of RD$175,000 for silver medalists and RD$150,000 for bronze. This is the first time individual members of teams receive such high cash prizes.
The sports federations winning medals will get RD$700,000 for distribution among the coaches and support staff. RD$500,000 for silver medalists and RD$300,000 for bronze.
The announcement was made by Minister of Sports Francisco Camacho who is with the Dominican delegation in Santiago de Chile for the Pan Am Games.
