His dream became reality. 27-year old Audrys Nin Reyes will be one of the 96 men competitors in the Paris Olympic Games. He won the slot by placing fifth on six apparatus in the final of artistic gymnastics at the Santiago 2023 Pan Am Games on 23 October 2023. He finished behind Canadian Felix Dolci, who won gold, and Diogo Soares, who won silver for Brazil. Fourth place was for American Donell Whittenburg, who had already qualified for the Olympic Games.
Nin Reyes surprised all, defeating the homeboy, Chilean Joel Álvarez and the favorite of the event, Brazilian Arthur Nory Moreno.
A native of Barahona, Nin Reyes has been persistent. In 2019, he represented the Dominican Republic at the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru when he won the gold medal in the men’s vault event.
