
Venues in Santiago and Puerto Plata are hosting the ADN Bachata World Festival Festival. The events start on Thursday, 16 November 2023 with a welcome party in the Central Park of Puerto Plata. The competition begins on Friday, 17 November at the amphitheater at La Puntilla, facing the Atlantic Ocean.
On 18 November, the dance contest continues. There will also be a concert by bachata singer Joe Veras at the Hotel Senator Hotel Spa & Playa Bachata Hotel Spa. On Sunday 19 November, Teodoro Reyes and Cuco Valoy will perform to the rhythm of Bachata and Son, in the gardens of the Gran Teatro Regional del Cibao in Santiago, about half an hour drive from Puerto Plata.
Artistic producer Ericko Zapata says this year the festival is dedicated to the father of bachata, Luis Segura. On the program is the presentation of Luis Miguel del Amargue, Leidy Laura, Ala Jaza, Allendy, Teodoro Reyes, Cuco Valoy, and a dance concert with Joe Verás and many more surprises.
A couple from Mexico was the winner of the first edition last year and will be here to defend their title against national competitors and those from 16 other countries, says Rudi López, president of Island Touch, international coordinator of bachata dancers and organizer of the event for the ADN Group.
The leading competitors include: Ataca & La Alemana, Alex & Desiree, Willy and Noura, Samy El Magico, El Tiguere & Bianca, Jesus and Maria, Frank Santos, Carlos and Susan, Flowdance, Farifeo, Sterling Cabral, Ana Saldana, Antony and Belen, Magda and Valeria, Ninafrika, among others.
The festival’s executive producer Víctor Minaya, says the event has the backing of the Asociación de Hoteles y Empresas Turísticas del Norte (Ashonorte), and the Asociación de Comerciantes e Industriales de Santiago (ACIS) to promote Santiago-Puerto Plata as a single destination.
The event includes the special production called Tabaco y Ron a Ritmo de Bachata y Son to take place in Santiago.
