
The long-lasting rains of the 17-19 November 2023 weekend have caused an estimated RD$5 billion in farm losses, especially rice fields, beans, plantains, and bananas, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, as reported in Diario Libre.
Deputy Minister Eulalio Ramírez says the most affected farming areas were Rancho Arriba in Duarte province, El Rosario and Padre de las Casas in Azua, Baní in Peravia, Palmar de Ocoa en San Jose de Ocoa, San Cristobal and San Juan de la Maguana.
He reports rural roads were damaged and nurseries suffered damages.
