El Dia columnist Dilenia Cruz shares statistics of suicides in the Dominican Republic in her newspaper column on 12 December 2023. She says that in 2020 there were 597 suicides. The number increased 121% when there were 670 suicides in 2021. In 2022 the number of registered suicides was 609. As of September 2023, the number of suicides is 384.
