The National Social Security Council (CNSS) approved on Thursday, 14 December 2023, a 50% increase in outpatient medication coverage. Previously, affiliates to the Family Insurance Health plans could access RD$8,000 a year in medicine coverage. The total is increased to RD$12,000 a year in the Contributory Regime that covers those who have jobs and pay into the system.
In an ordinary session of the governing body of the Dominican Social Security System (SDSS), resolution 581-03 was approved incorporating the increase in pharmaceutical coverage. The same resolution added 70 medical procedures to the coverage of affiliates.
The CNSS instructed the Information and Defense of Affiliates Agency (DIDA) and the Superintendency of Health and Occupational Risks (Sisalril) to make the new benefits known to the population and requests that ProConsumidor remain vigilant to prevent produce increases in drug prices and this translates into an expense that impacts the population affiliated with the SFS.
