The Tigres del Licey of the capital city defeated the Toros del Este of La Romana, a victory that ensured the capital city team’s pass to the top four teams in the standing of the Dominican Professional Winter Baseball League Championship 2023-24. The Gigantes del Cibao of San Francisco de Macoris, Estrellas Orientales of San Pedro de Macoris and Leones del Escogido had already won their slots in the upcoming round-robin.
The regular season ends on 22 December 2023. The top four of six teams playing in the championship move on to the round-robin after playing the scheduled 150 games.
As of the games played on 20 December, the team stats are: Gigantes del Cibao 28 won/ 19 losses; Estrellas Orientales 26/21; Leones del Escogido 25/23; Tigres del Licey 24/23; Aguilas Cibaeñas 21/27; and Toros del Este 18/29.
There are two days of games pending, but these will not change who plays the round-robin.
