Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) president Garibaldy Bautista is requesting full remodeling of 40 sports and non-sports venues that will be used for the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games to take place in summer 2026 in Santo Domingo. This will be the third time the DR hosts the regional games. Previous editions were Santo Domingo 1974 and Santiago de los Caballeros 1986.
The request was made to President Luis Abinader during the event when the logo and graphics for the Santo Domingo 2026 games were presented.
The request is to fully remodel almost all the venues at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, built for the 1974 Central American and Caribbean Games. Other facilities at the Parque del Este sports center, built for the Pan American Games in 2003 are also on the list for renovations.
Likewise, the Olympic Committee also requests the renovations of venues outside the Juan Pablo Duarte and Parque del Este sports complexes.
Bautista said that the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo mark the 100 years of the first Central American Games that were held in Mexico in 1926.
