Students again intoxicated in San Francisco de Macoris

Several students and teachers were once again poisoned after inhaling pesticides applied in farms near the Max Henríquez Ureña Public High School in Cenoví, Duarte province, near the city of San Francisco de Macoris.

According to information obtained unofficially by Hoy newspaper, those affected had to be rushed to a medical center in the area.

Hoy newspaper reports that the director of Communications and Public Relations of the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (Minerd), Diego Pesqueira says the Ministry has initiated an investigation to prosecute those responsible.

Hoy recalls that just last week a group of students suffered pesticide poisoning, in a similar event that affected students at the Gumersinda Paulino Educational Center, located in El Ranchito in La Vega province.
