Luis Almagro, secretary general of the Organization of American States (OAS), posted on his X account that he is again sending former President of Chile Eduardo Frei Ruiz (1994-2000) to head the Organization of American States (OAS) mission to observe the presidential and congressional elections in the Dominican Republic. The election will be held on Sunday, 19 May 2024. Frei had led the OAS mission to the controversial municipal election in 2020 that had to be postponed after technology glitch.
