DR to keep assisting the US evacuate citizens from Haiti

The US Department of State reports on a call from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to President Luis Abinader on Friday, 5 April 2024. “Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with President Luis Abinader of the Dominican Republic. Secretary Blinken and President Abinader discussed ongoing coordination on the situation in Haiti. The Secretary thanked President Abinader for support in assisting U.S. families’ return to the United States.”

Listin Diario reports that during the conversation, President Abinader assured the US Secretary that the Dominican Republic would certainly continue to assist the United States in the transit of its citizens still in Haiti.

As reported in Listin Diario, after first expressing gratitude for the assistance given to US citizens in Haiti, Blinkin asked Abinader to please continue with such assistance, and President Abinader reiterated the support from his country. The two men agreed to keep the communication lines open and showed a willingness to deal with the very pressing issues in Haiti.
