Casa de Campo has added pickleball

Imagine a game that combines badminton, tennis, and table tennis. That’s pickleball in a nutshell! Casa de Campo in La Romana added the trending new sport to its sports installations in June 2024.

The brand-new pickleball courts are part of an expanded Racquet Center at the resort and vacation community. Casa de Campo is already regarded as the country’s premier tennis vacation resort.

The Racquet Center at Casa de Campo has four pickleball courts, along with two padel courts — complementing the property’s existing 11 Har-Tru courts and one hard surface tennis court.

Pickleball court time is US$40 the hour during the day and US$45 the hour at night. Instructors are on hand to get you started for US$79 the hour, US$95 for two persons.

Pickleball is a paddle sport played on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net. Players use solid-faced paddles to hit a perforated plastic ball over the net.

The sport has taken off because it is easy to learn as it has relatively simple rules. The growing popularity of pickleball can be attributed to this perfect blend of easy accessibility, social aspects, and its ability to provide a good workout without excessive strain.

According to Casa de Campo, the decision reflects a commitment to meeting guest demand and keeping pace with current sporting trends. Pickleball’s easy-to-learn nature, combined with its fast-paced and social aspects, has seen a surge in interest, making it a perfect fit for Casa de Campo’s active clientele.
