The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic has issued warnings to the public about videos that are appearing on internet platforms that use Artificial Intelligence to reproduce the voice of Central Bank governor, Hector Valdez Albizu, announcing a new Central Bank investment platform.
These videos are fake and do not have any relation to decisions made by the Monetary Board or the Central Bank. They can also produce uncertainty regarding banking institutions, and as a result, any messages received purporting to provide financial services that might be dubious, should be reported to the authorities.
Finally, the Central Bank notes that all of its decisions and policies are available on their website www.bancentral.gob.do, and their accounts on the major social platforms as well as in the local press.
