The Ministry of Foreign Relations (Mirex) is receiving nominees for the sixth edition of the Oscar de la Renta Dominican Emigrant Award. The award recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of Dominicans living abroad.
Candidates may submit their applications until 30 September 2024 at Dominican embassies and consulates, as well as offices of the Institute of Dominicans Abroad (INDEX). Additionally, submissions can be online or at the Specialized Diplomacy Department located at the Ministry of Foreign Relations in Santo Domingo.
Each year, Mirex presents the Oscar de la Renta Dominican Migrant Award, the most prestigious recognition by the state for Dominicans and their first and second-generation descendants who have excelled in scientific, artistic, humanitarian, labor, professional, and academic fields abroad. The positive impact of the migrants on the community where they reside, while maintaining ties with their homeland, is highly valued.
This award pays homage to the life and achievements of Oscar de la Renta, an exemplary Dominican who earned international admiration, affection, and respect, and who is one of the most renowned Dominicans worldwide and a symbol of national pride.
