Ministry of Education releases preliminary results of latest national standardized tests

The Ministry of Education (Minerd) has just released the preliminary results of the 2024 National Standardized Tests. The tests seek to guarantee minimum educational levels of high school graduates.

Overall, 74% of those taking the tests were able to achieve a passing grade. More than 83,000 students took the test in June 2024, with attendance at 98% of those eligible at the academic level and a 99% attendance rate at the technical or arts levels.

The Minerd also published the average scores for the different tests, such as Spanish Language, Math, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences. The students at the Technical level had the highest pass-rate at 81.77%, qualifying to enter higher education/university level.

The standardized tests for primary school children were given in the middle of June to 16,500 students, and over 86% passed the tests.

The Ministry announced the results were preliminary and that further evaluations on the results of these tests would be forthcoming.
