The contemplated change of direction of major avenues in the capital city is back making headlines. The most impactful probably would be making Av. Abraham Lincoln a one-way road in north-south direction, and the parallel Av. Winston Churchill also one way in the alternate south-north direction.
The authorities understand the changes will reduce traffic congestion and make driving safer.
The change of directions is back in the news after the tender for the construction of a train from the capital city to the Las Americas International Airport is taking place. The construction envisions two tunnels and the change of direction of several pairs of roads in the National District.
The other pairs of roads are: Defilló and Carmen Mendoza de Cornielle streets; Gustavo Mejía Ricart and Roberto Pastoriza avenues; Lope de Vega and Tiradentes avenues; Enriquillo/Sarasota and José Contreras and Bolívar/Rómulo Betancourt avenues.
The National Institute of Transit and Transport (Intrant) has not announced anything, but the republishing of the contemplated changes is a trending topic with many envisioning how it will affect getting around.
