
The Dominican government is hosting a welcome reception on the evening of Thursday, 15 August 2024 at the historic Fortaleza de Santo Domingo in the Colonial City for the heads of state and/or government, first ladies, vice presidents, heirs to reigning thrones and other dignitaries coming for the second inaugural of President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña. The attire for this event is business suit or chacabana (guayabera) for men and cocktail attire for women.
The schedule for the swearing-in of President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña for their second term, 2024-2028, starts on Friday, 16 August at the Centro de los Heroes venue of the National Congress with the installation of the members of the National Assembly, that brings together the legislators elected for the 2024-2028 term.
The actual inauguration ceremony for President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña this year will subsequently take place at the Carlos Piantini Hall of the National Theater. The attire for the event is gentlemen are to wear a suit with a white shirt, black tie, black socks and black shoes. Ladies are requested to wear a white suit and black shoes.
Arrivals to the National Theater are phased. At 9:30am the special mission heads will enter followed at 9:50am by the arrival of heads of state and/or government, first ladies, vice presidents, heirs to reigning thrones and other dignitaries.
The actual swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to start at 10:30am at the National Theater.
Following the inauguration, at 12:45pm, President Abinader and Vice President Peña, along with cabinet members and high-ranking officials, will lay a floral tribute at the Altar of the Fatherland in honor of the Republic’s founders.
At 1:15pm, in the Ambassador’s Hall of the Presidential Palace, President Abinader and Vice President Peña will greet heads of state, first ladies, heirs to reigning thrones, and vice presidents.
A luncheon is scheduled for 1:30pm in the Las Cariátides Hall of the Presidential Palace, hosted by President Abinader in honor of state leaders, first ladies, heirs, vice presidents, special mission heads and official delegations.
President Luis Abinader will swear in his cabinet at 3:30pm at the Presidential Palace.
The day will conclude with a Te Deum (thank you mass) at 4:30pm at the Santo Domingo Cathedral in the Colonial City.
A formal gala reception will be held at the Presidential Palace is scheduled at 8pm for international guests, special invitees, and high-ranking officials.
According to the itineraries, official delegations are scheduled to depart on Saturday, 17 August.
