
The relocation of the presidential inaugural to the National Theater facilitated the fashion aspects of the gala event. Those attending, including heads of government and special guests walked the red carpet as they made their way to the Carlos Piantini Hall of the Theater.
The Dominican protocol had requested that gentlemen wear a suit with a white shirt, black tie, black socks and black shoes. Ladies were requested to wear a white suit or dress and black shoes.
Vice President Raquel Peña wore a classic two-piece suit by designer Luis Dominguez. First Lady Raquel Arbaje wore an avantgard two-piece suit by young designer Sarah Cury.
The interesting note was that King Felipe VI of Spain did not arrive in a white suit. He came attired in grey. Listin Diario shared an explanation made by former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jatzel Román: The white color has a special symbolism within the Spanish monarchy since it is traditionally reserved for acts of a religious nature. This exclusive use is related to respect for the sacred, reflecting an ancient custom that traces its roots to the Catholic history of Spain.
