The public is invited to enjoy 21 theatrical productions presented by 20 national companies and over 350 artists on stage.

Minister of Culture Milagros Germán, along with Vice Minister of Creativity and Artistic Training Giovanny Cruz and other officials, presided over the opening of the festival at the main hall of the National Theater on Sunday, 20 October 2024.
Minister Germán emphasized the ministry’s commitment to investing in the country’s arts development through events like this festival. She highlighted the Dominican Republic’s rich theatrical tradition and invited the public to participate in the eighth edition of the National Theater Festival, noting how this art form has evolved to reflect contemporary times.
Vice Minister Cruz praised the rigorous selection process for the festival’s productions and the achievements of the educational program of the 2024 Fenate pre-inaugural cycle.
“This year we have achieved fascinating results with our teachings in costume design, set design, musicalization, makeup, actor’s body management, lighting design, on-camera acting, and film production, and we have managed to elevate the workshops to the category of courses,” the official stated.
Prior to the performance of the opening drama “Zafra” at the National Theater, a tribute was paid to Lillyanna Díaz, to whom this edition of the Fenate is dedicated, in recognition of her outstanding career and valuable contributions to the country’s performing arts.
Minister Germán and Vice Minister Cruz presented a plaque of recognition to the honoree in the presence of her family, friends, and colleagues from the theater world.
