In the eleventh consecutive week of the “Guarantee of Peace” Operation, led by the Ministry of Interior and Police (MIP), 16 nightclubs were inspected, with one temporarily closed and the rest notified for non-compliance with Decree No. 308-06 and Resolution No. 001-2022.
The operation, involving the Alcoholic Beverage Control Ageny (COBA), the National Police, the Attorney General Office, the National Drug Control Ageny (DNCD), and the Ministry of Defense, took place in the province of San Cristóbal and a section of the Sánchez highway in the National District. During the inspection, slot machines, obstruction of public roads, and noise pollution were found.
Márx López, representing COBA, explained that the government continues its efforts to guarantee public safety and that is why these areas where neighbors had complained have been intervened.
The notified establishments in San Cristóbal were: Drink Arena Love in Madre Vieja Sur, Drinks 24 K, Colmado La Esquina de Mamá, and De William Vaper Disco, the latter three in the Hatillo section.
Meanwhile, in the National District, Súper Colmado El Chino was temporarily closed due to noise pollution, the presence of minors, and obstruction of the public road. Among the establishments that were only notified are: Los colmados Las 2 Hermanitas, Ramírez, CyS, Tiburcio, Guillermo, Cafetería Estela, 8 ½ Bar and Billiards, GM Vapes, and Bodega de Bicha, among others.
During the “Guarantee of Peace” Operation, ordered by President Luis Abinader and implemented by the Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful, COBA representatives invited the owners of the notified establishments and the one that was temporarily closed to regularize their situation and invited them to meet with the corresponding officials during the week.
The “Guarantee of Peace” Operation began on 6 September 2024 following the appointment of former National District senator Faride Raful to the position of Minister of Interior and Police. The program’s objective is to regulate noise pollution, the sale of alcoholic beverages at unauthorized times, the illegal occupation of public space, and prohibiting the entry of minors into nightclubs.
To date, the operation, led by the Ministry of Interior and Police in collaboration with the National Police, the Ministry of Defense, the Directorate of Drug Control, and the Public Ministry, has intervened in areas of the National District, the province of Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Hermanas Mirabal, La Romana, Puerto Plata, and other parts of the country, managing to close nearly a hundred businesses that were operating irregularly.
