Ministry of Interior & Police continues crackdown on noisemakers

In a major crackdown on noise pollution, the Specialized Prosecution for the Defense of the Environment and Natural Resources (Proedemaren) on Wednesday confiscated 312 sound systems from nightclubs Provenza, Zahara, Habibi, Esparta, and others during a raid in Plaza Universitaria, National District.

Authorities seized speakers and other sound equipment that the businesses were allegedly using to create excessive noise, in violation of Environment Law 64-00.

According to a statement, the judicial action was approved by Judge Kenya Romero Severino, coordinator of the National District Instruction Courts, who validated the evidence presented by the Public Ministry through Proedemaren. The evidence demonstrated that these businesses were violating Environment Law 64-00, specifically articles 5, 85, 92, 93, 95, 114, 174, and 175, which address noise pollution.
