The Chamber of Deputies has begun the interviews to candidates for the Chamber of Accounts (CCR), the auditing arm of the Dominican government. The five lead auditors are being chosen after a new law was passed that seeks to strengthen the organization.
Deputy Rogelio Genao Lanza, president of the Chamber of Deputies’ Committee on the Chamber of Accounts, announced that the committee is interviewing 30 candidates daily to fill the vacancies. “The process involves 15 interviews in the morning and another 15 in the afternoon,” Genao explained. Once the interviews are completed, the full Chamber will select three finalists to be sent to the Senate for final approval.
Candidates are given ten minutes to present their vision for the CCR, followed by a question-and-answer session with the committee members. Of the 234 individuals who initially applied, 208 met the constitutional and legal requirements and are currently being interviewed.
The selection process for the CCR members was formally opened on 15 October 2024, and the deadline for applications was extended twice to encourage more participation. The new members will serve a four-year term, beginning in 2024.
