The Dominican Republic joins the Alliance for Security, Justice and Development

Some 18 Latin America and the Caribbean nations have presented the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) with founding documents for the Alliance for Security, Justice, and Development, a regional effort to create initiatives and projects that will assist in fighting criminal activities in these nations. The IADB defines the new entity as a platform for dialogue, cooperation, knowledge exchange, and resource mobilization to prevent and respond to organized crime in Latin America and the Caribbean

According to the IADB president, Ilan Goldfajn, security was a “key element in securing regional economic progress.”

Collaborating agencies such as the Organization of American States (OAS), Interpol, the Anti-Mafia Agency from Italy, the World Bank, and the Bank for the Development of Central America and the Caribbean (CAF) are also part of the new entity.

Established in December 2024 with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Alliance is composed of and led by 18 of the regional borrowing member countries of the Bank.
